Comment posted Where can I find a bike with built-in computer that monitors heart-rate, calorie burn, distance, speed etc.? by uncleneal.

the only bikes with builtin computers are usually stationary exercise bikes
you will need to buy these things and install them on your bike
Garmin makes the best GPS systems, and some are integrated with the other info (ie. mph, cadence, heartrate, etc.)
plan on spending 300 to 500 if you want absolutely everything that is available

  • You have a number of options depending on how much you want to spend. You can get a basic heart rate monitor for $30. I've used a Polar CS200 ($150), which had all the features you mentioned, minus the Satellite Navigation.

The Garmin 305 has all the features, including satellite Navigation, but they run about $350.

All of these options will work with any bike. Usually the sensors are built into a band you wear around your chest.

You should decide on the amount you are willing to spend, and the features you need, and take your bike to the bike shop. They will assist you with finding the exact model and can install it for you.

  • Unfortunately there are no bikes or wheels with built in computers or sensors. The reason is that everyone likes something different when it comes to this. However, there are a ton of computers on the market at reasonable prices. There are so many aftermarket computers to track mileage, speed, etc. that it may take you a while to figure out exactly what you need. Computers from Cateye are great and offer a full range of cycling measurement. Polar brand adds heart rate monitoring and other measurements of your bodies performance. They tend to be more expensive. There are no integrated GPSs yet. But i'd imagine they are coming down the road. garmin makes a unit that you can mount on a bike, but it is a little bulky.

My personal preference is toward wireless computers. They are easy to install and don't clutter your bike with more wires.

  • Heart Rate Monitor?
Take a look at the Omron HR 100C heart rate monitor. It is one of the best selling heart rate monitors on Amazon. It is quite inexpensive at around $30 on Amazon and delivery is free. The Omron comes with a chest strap and a wrist watch. It is popular for people using a heart rate monitor for the first time.

  • Bike computers?
Check out the cyclocomputers on Nashbar.com. They always have something going on. I have always liked Cateye. They have been around forever. I still use the wired computer I got back in the early 80s. Nashbar has the Cateye CC-HR200DW (heart rate/wireless) on sale for $140, or if you want to splurge, the Garmin GPS is less than $200. I have a separate GPS unit I can use for other things besides biking, but it is nice to have a all-in-one unit. Just knowing the elevation is helpful. The things you list that are necessary to you, you can get for around $40+ (regular price) or $25+ (on sale). Good luck.
